Windows or Mac

// October 23rd, 2009 // 4 Comments » // My Favorites

Well a new version of windows is rolling out, Windows 7. To make my joy complete Apple has released a new “I’m a mac/I’m a PC” Ad. I recently made the upgrade to Snow Leopard on my Mac Mini and I have to say it was painless! It actually freed up about 10 gigs of hard drive space and sped up my aging Mac Mini to the point that I really think I can go another year without an upgrade! For the first time I have owned the same computer system for longer than 2 years without a major hardware upgrade… Pretty cool! and its faster now than when I first bought it thanks to the minor purchase of 29$ for the upgrade to Snow Leopard.

Windows 7 on the other hand is not so gentle… 219.99 for the ultimate version of Windows 7 as an upgrade and 319.99 for the full version! I am starting to wonder where the benefit of this operating system will start to show up… It’s obvious that Microsoft has found the way to continue to leach money out of their devoted following with the ridiculous pricing scheme. It is amazing to me how many people continue to be loyal to Microsoft completely oblivious to the peace of mind that they could have by buying a Mac.

They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results… well here we go again!

Today is a good day for Apple users! Apple is really throwing down the gauntlet for Microsoft, Announcing a $29 dollar upgrade to Snow Leopard… the next jump ahead of Windows 7… Also it looks like the Iphone 3.0 OS is a fantastic upgrade with the long awaited cut and paste function… something I know I have been really looking forward to. and last but not least a Palm Pre slaughtering Iphone 3GS with tons of great new features… and it looks like the Iphone 3G just got lowered to 99$ which is pretty reasonable given the state of the economy… I think that the real think that Apple understands that Microsoft does not get yet is that consumers would rather simplicity in pricing and in the product that is offered… rather than offering a million solutions to the same problem offer a few really good ones that are easy to choose from. I beleive that is why Apple is growing in leaps and bounds… l sure hope this healthy competition keeps bringing great products and stimulating creativity. Ok guys I will stop geeking out and get back to work…

blessings to all my apple buddies!

Just in case you haven’t already heard about it Microsoft has released a new search engine that just might have enough gumption to take back some market share from Google… seeing that Google has over 80% of the market share of search … the competition may urge Google to make a few updates instead of resting on their laurels!   I love Google to death but they have not made many changes in the past few years… but who can blame them! if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! so with no further ado!

Windows 7 ?

// January 20th, 2009 // No Comments » // My Life

Everybody knows I am a converted apple user… Mainly because I hated Windows Vista! I was absolutely tired of dealing with driver issues, viruses, spyware ect.

After the really lame “Mojave”, “I am a PC” and the extremely odd “Jerry Seinfeld” Ad Campaigns.. It looks like Microsoft scraped the usable parts of Vista together to provide yet another version of windows!

Now don’t get me wrong… Microsoft could actually get it right this time. But I wouldn’t be so eager to jump ship from XP or Vista just yet! If what you have is working for you then stick with it!

I will say if windows 7 has any of the guts of server 2008 then there might be something to be impressed with … I recently installed server 2008 Std. And I have to say, it is the fastest booting Microsoft server to date! even shutdowns take a few measly seconds compared to as long as 10 minutes on server 2003!

All I know is that Microsoft needs Windows 7 to make it… All it takes is a few thousand IT guys like me to start jumping ship, for Apple to start making real headway in the PC market.
