Top Ten Ways To Be A Better Man?

By on 11-17-2009 in My Thoughts

Ok I admit it … There are guys that I am jealous of,   They make being a man look easy.   These days life distracts us and we can easily just check out and forget what it means to be a man.  Following are some things that I am applying in my life to be a better man.

10. Take some time out and evaluate your daily routines to make sure you are carving out some time for the family. Cut back on the TV and just hang out.
9. Start actually listening to your wife… Look at her while she is talking and give her your undivided attention just for a little while each day.
8. Wash some dishes,  Sure we all drop a few things in the dishwasher but how about taking care of all the dinner dishes a few times a week?
7. Pay attention to how often you gripe and fuss about trivial things that don’t really matter.
6. Cook breakfast on Saturday morning…have fun and be inventive! Get good at it!
5. Start being more assertive with decision making and learn to have an opinion about things instead of being indifferent.
4. Look for a new common interest that you share with your wife… research and spend some time getting to know more about her.
3. Make a conscious effort to be involved with your kids, set aside some time to spend with them
2. Evaluate your moral behavior… Are you involved in pornography, drug abuse, alcoholism, gambling?  confess those things to someone and get connected to an accountability partner,  better yet confess those things to your wife and make her your accountability partner…

1. The number one way to be a better man… (drum roll please)  Just focus on being more like Jesus!  Serve others first and yourself last… its really just that easy… the other 9 ways are really just dealing with symptoms and not the real problem…Guys like us are just selfish… if you can learn to be selfless then you find it easy to be the man that you want to be.
