Gods Will…from the other bald guy’s perspective.
This was previously posted as a comment, but i finally figured out how to make it a POST! So here it is.
God’s will… or should I capitalize the whole thing “GOD’S WILL” is in my opinion grossly overstated. There are those who claim to KNOW it, and those who do strange things seeking it. Now that’s not to say there weren’t some darn strange things done by the prophets and other people of the bible, but the pain that is endured, the mental stress, the fear, of somehow doing what ISN’T GOD’S WILL, is, i believe, unwarranted. There are some spots in the scriptures where it’s all broken down… Greatest…Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and your neighbor as yourself…God’s will is… that all men be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth… too simple? Too bad. that’s all I’m taking. You tell me the Lord “told” you something, while you were “seeking His will” and I admit im gonna be skeptical, cause, that just makes what you are saying above being questioned… but ask me if I know God’s will? Yup, He already told me. And I’m doing it. Does God care if you chose job A over job B? Only if one takes away from you loving Him and saving people… other than that, why stress over it. Make an informed decision and stinking do somthing… just do somthing.Sometimes I, we, people, spend SO much time trying to seek God, and figure out what we should do in our fleshly lives that we have missed out on some amazing oportunitis for building our faith. So what if you aren’t sure EXACTLY what to do, what the heck IS faith anyway… it is the reality of what you hope for… that means it isn’t in front of you right now, it’s the evidence… the proof of what you aren’t looking at. It isn’t a blind leap, it is an informed leap. The skydiver has absolutely no way of knowing if the chute will open or not when the cord is pulled, except that the instructions say it will if it’s packaged correctly, and it always has before. So he gets 20000 feet off the ground and “hopes” it will open when he jumps out? Heck no, thats silly. He jumps out and the hope he has is based on a reality that it always has opened before and that he is sure it is packaged correctly, so he is sure it will open. NO, he hasn’t seen it open yet this jump, but the fact that he is still alive after the last jump, is the evidence of things unseen, ie, that the chute will open. So his leap of faith is no huge leap of faith after all, cause he KNOWS it will open. Just like i KNOW that no matter if I pick job A or job B, God always has, and always will work all things for the good of those who love Him (Sound familiar?) and are called according to His purpose.
Now, let me stop you before you start. I know the parachute is not a perfect illustration, but it is just an illustration. God ALWAYS goes through with his promise. He says it’s ALWAYS gonna be this way, that is without exception. Our chutes will never fail, cause He is the one who folds them for us… and He folded them before the foundation of the world when he chose Jesus to save us.
